Maggie Johnson
Maggie Johnson graduated from Manchester College of Art and Design in 1968, having specialised in embroidery. This was followed by a post-Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of Manchester. For the next eight years she taught in London and Manchester.
Her works are in the collection of Bolton Museum and Art Gallery and in the Travelling Picture Scheme of the Wigan Art Adviser. Pieces have also been on display at the North West Craft Shop, Manchester and at Tatton Park, Knutsford.
Many pieces are in private collections in England, Canada, Japan and the USA.
Small pieces are executed in wool on canvas, depicting formal gardens, topiary, cottage gardens and flower beds. The collages of herbaceous borders and flower beds are made from printed fabrics. Commissions to execute embroideries and gouaches of private gardens will be accepted. Recent works feature seascapes of East Anglia and landscapes of the Tamar Valley.
